| Steve leads the Transactions and Compliance practice of
the team and handles purchases, sales, leases, and fractional programs
for general aviation and commercial aircraft. He has represented clients
in transactions concerning everything from piston singles to business
jets to transport category aircraft. He is experienced in corporate and other business organization law, especially closely-held entities set up to hold and operate aircraft and aviation-related assets and operations.
Steve's operational involvement with aviation runs deep. He is an instrument-rated private pilot (single and multi-engine land and single-engine sea) with high-performance and tailwheel endorsements and he trains in aerobatic aircraft. He also holds a type rating (SIC) in the mighty Douglas DC-3/C-47 and his logbook contains time in the Ford TriMotor, the Raytheon T-6A Texan II (the US military's primary fixed-wing trainer),
the Northrop T-38 (the USAF's advanced jet trainer), and the F-16D (an aerobatic demonstration flight with USAFADS Thunderbird 8).
He produces the popular Airspeed podcast and blog, writes Exploring the Envelope for AOPA's Let's Go Flying initiative, makes regular presentations at such events at AirVenture Oshkosh and Sun 'N Fun and is writing the score of, and performing the music for, the upcoming aviation film, A Pilot's Story. He is also a major and mission transport pilot for the US Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary) and the assistant judge advocate of CAP's Michigan Wing (GLR-MI).

| Eric's practice focuses on business entity planning, taxation, estate planning, family wealth transfers, business entity formations, corporate planning and taxation, limited liability company planning and taxation, tax controversies, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
He is experienced in the planning and execution of aircraft acquisition, holding, and sale strategies with an emphasis on minimizing applicable taxes (particularly state sales and use taxes) and/or deferring the imposition of taxes through lease and other arrangements. He has also assisted clients with setting up and certifying FAA Part 135 operations.

| Steve served as corporate counsel for 26 years with a major durable goods manufacturer, during which time he provided legal services for the flight department, including aircraft transactions and labor relations management and dispute resolution. He also has extensive experience in trade regulation matters, including pricing, price fixing, promotions, mergers, joint ventures, dealer terminations, distribution restraints, joint purchasing, monopolization, tying, and price discrimination. |

| Allan is the director of the Intellectual Property and Intellectual Property Litigation Department. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in aeronautical engineering. He has more than 30 years of experience in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secrets litigation; counseling; and licensing. Mr. Sternstein has tried IP cases in federal courts across the country, including one case where he presented before the jury and obtained a record-setting damages award of more than $100 million, and has argued before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
He holds a private pilot certificate. He has been involved in trade secret litigation representing Simmonds Precision Products, a subsidiary of BF Goodrich, over its Health and Usage Management Systems (HUMS) for helicopters, and was involved in patent infringement litigation on behalf of BF Goodrich Flightsystems for its stormscope radar devices.
