He has represented clients in transactions concerning everything from piston singles to business jets to transport category aircraft. He is experienced in corporate and other business organization law, especially closely-held entities set up to hold and operate aircraft and aviation-related assets and operations.

Steve's operational involvement with aviation runs deep. He is an instrument-rated private pilot (single and multi-engine land and single-engine sea) with high-performance and tailwheel endorsements and he trains in aerobatic aircraft. He also holds a type rating (SIC) in the mighty Douglas DC-3/C-47 and his logbook contains time in the Ford TriMotor, the Raytheon T-6A Texan II (the US military's primary fixed-wing trainer), the Northrop T-38 (the USAF's advanced jet trainer), and the F-16D (an aerobatic demonstration flight with USAFADS Thunderbird 8).

He produces the popular Airspeed podcast and blog, writes Exploring the Envelope for AOPA's Let's Go Flying initiative, makes regular presentations at such events at AirVenture Oshkosh and Sun 'N Fun and is writing the score of, and performing the music for, the upcoming aviation film, A Pilot's Story. He is also a major and mission transport pilot for the US Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary) and the assistant judge advocate of CAP's Michigan Wing (GLR-MI).
