Michael Wippler's practice focuses on business counseling, litigation and the negotiation and documentation of business, banking and real estate transactions.  Mr. Wippler has negotiated and documented real estate and business transactions in the United States, Latin America and Asia.  His clients include mortgage lenders, real estate developers, medical device manufacturers, OEMs, automobile manufacturers and individuals.

Before joining Dykema, Mr. Wippler spent seven years as Vice President and General Counsel for a national mortgage banking and brokerage company.  Mr. Wippler previously served in the United States Naval Reserve, as an Arbitrator for the Los Angeles Superior Court and as Corporate Secretary for the W.M. Keck Foundation.
 
Mr. Wippler holds a Broker's license from the California Department of Real Estate.

Experience

  • Transactional
    Mr. Wippler has negotiated and drafted numerous commercial, real estate, business and banking-related agreements including purchase-sale agreements, leases, shareholders' agreements, operating agreements, license agreements, employment agreements, warehouse agreements and correspondent agreements.
  • Litigation
    Mr. Wippler has handled state and federal court cases ranging from class actions alleging violations of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) to individual actions alleging breach of contract, fraud and statutory violations.
  • Regulatory and Compliance
    Mr. Wippler has represented clients before various regulatory and administrative agencies including the California Department of Real Estate and the California Department of Corporations. He has assisted clients with investigations by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Attorney. Mr. Wippler has prepared and implemented fraud prevention programs for several companies.

    Mr. Wippler represents several multi-national corporations and has negotiated and documented transactions in Asia, Central America and South America.
