The Municipal Bond Credit Enhancement Group of the Commercial Finance Team specializes in representing financial institutions with respect to the issuance of letters of credit and other types of credit support for municipal bond transactions and variable rate corporate bond transactions. We have experience with virtually every type of credit support issued for municipal bonds at the state and local levels in Michigan and Illinois, and with the federal tax and securities law aspects of such bond issues.  Our experience encompasses the full range of traditional and innovative financing structures.

Our involvement in representing providers of credit support for private activity bonds issued through governmental “conduit” issuers for qualified charitable, educational and cultural organizations (501(c)(3) organizations) and qualified industrial companies is extensive. We have experience with such bond financings in most Midwestern states, including Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana and Wisconsin.

Dykema is listed as approved bond counsel in The Bond Buyer’s Municipal Marketplace (the so-called “Red Book”), the principal directory of its kind. Several of the Firm’s attorneys are members of and active in the National Association of Bond Lawyers.

In addition to representing financial institutions with respect to the issuance of credit support for municipal bond transactions and variable rate corporate bond transactions, the Firm also has an active Public Finance Group that serves as bond counsel, company counsel, underwriter’s counsel and trustee counsel on public finance transactions.
