Jill A. Wheaton, member and leader of Dykema’s Appellate practice, was recently named Chair of the Appellate Practice Section of the State Bar of Michigan for the 2013-14 bar year. Wheaton, who served as Chair-Elect of the Appellate Practice Section in 2012-13, has held other Section officer responsibilities (including Treasurer) in previous years.

The Appellate Practice Section consists of nearly 700 members, nearly all of whom are resident in Michigan. The Section works to advance the administration of justice in the appellate courts, so that the Bench and the Bar may better serve the public interest. Among its duties: helping appellate practitioners improve their advocacy skills; devising policies and procedures to make appellate practices more efficient and effective; and helping optimize the operational productivity of appellate courts.

Wheaton, a resident of Plymouth, Michigan, joined Dykema in1994 and has directed the Firm’s Appellate practice since 2007.
