Melvin J. Muskovitz, Ann Arbor-based member in Dykema’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, will be a keynote speaker at the Kapnick Insurance Group’s 2014 Legal and Survey Results Seminar.  This year’s half-day event—to be held on Wednesday, June 11, in Plymouth, Michigan, beginning at 7:30 am—is the 15th Annual Legal Seminar presented by Kapnick. Kapnick is one of the largest independently owned insurance agencies in the Midwest, serving over 7,000 client companies worldwide.

Muskovitz, who not only helps clients draft employment policies, negotiates employment and severance agreements, and represents employers in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies, but also assists employers in finding practical solutions to difficult employment situations that arise under state and federal employment laws, will deliver a presentation themed “”BYOD (Bring Your Own Device”)—Your Company is Likely at Risk.”

In his presentation, Muskovitz will identify the myriad issues that result from employees using their own mobile devices for work. Among them: FLSA violations, breach of privacy, HIPAA violations, harassment and cybersecurity/data privacy. In addition to detailing the risks associated with these violations, Muskovitz will provide practical guidance and share best practices for employers who authorize employees to use personal technologies for work.
