Michael P. Wippler, Office Managing Member of Dykema’s Los Angeles Office whose practice focuses on business counseling, litigation and the negotiation and documentation of business and real estate transactions, was quoted in an article—“ How to Get an Out-of-the-Way Retail Store Noticed”—that appears in the May 30, 2014 issue of Bloomberg Businessweek.

Wippler, who in his career has counseled dozens of small business owners, provides a host of recommendations for retailers whose establishments do not have the visibility of larger stores. In the article, Wippler suggests “ramping up your advertising, making sure you’re identifying your target audience, and giving your best customers incentives to write reviews about you on Yelp and other online review sites.”

Wippler also suggests seeking assistance from the landlord and other nearby retailers who may find themselves in a similar situation. “Look to your landlord for help with advertising fliers,” he advises, “and see if you can direct cross traffic or pool advertising funds with some of the other retailers nearby.”
