Tom Alleman Authors IBAT Article on Potential Digital Barrier Lawsuits Against Banks

Tom Alleman, Dallas-based member in Dykema’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group and Director of the firm’s Insurance Industry Group, authored the Independent Bankers Association of Texas article, “Is Your Website ADA Compliant? Plaintiffs’ Lawyers Want to Know.”

In the article, Alleman urges financial institutions to assess their websites’ serviceability to the visually impaired, in preparation for future FDIC standards and as a shield against plaintiffs’ lawyers suing for non-adherence to ADA guidelines. Given the dearth of bank-specific regulations, Alleman recommends consulting existing web accessibility standards, such as WCAG.
