James S. Brady, Office Managing Member of Dykema’s Grand Rapids office and leader of the Firm’s national White Collar Defense and Internal Investigations practice, has been appointed by Grand Rapids Mayor George Hartwell to co-chair the city’s Elections Review Commission. The commission has been tasked with conducting a rigorous examination of the city’s voting process with a view toward adding efficiency and shortening voter wait times.

Among the initiatives Brady and the commission are likely to consider: “vote centers”—super precincts that enable individuals to vote at a variety of locations, not merely the precinct in which they live. This idea—successfully piloted in other states—would first require approval by state legislators.
