Janet A. Stiven, a Chicago-based business attorney and Dykema Member who assists clients in an outside general counsel role as well as with strategic business and technology transactions, has been named to the faculty of 2013 Cloud Connect, a three-day conference aimed at providing Chief Information Officers, IT professionals and developers information and insights into the most important issues that impact cloud computing.

The 2013 Cloud Connect Conference will be held in Chicago at McCormick Place on October 21-23, 2013.

Stiven will participate in a 3-hour afternoon session on Monday, October 21 themed “Cloud Security and Risk Summit.” This session, directed at conference attendees—general IT practitioners as well as IT security experts and practitioners—will provide helpful advice and suggested best practices on managing security and risk when using cloud services. Stiven will address the legal aspects of cloud services and identify the threats within cloud computing that underscore the need for incorporating security and compliance controls into cloud services agreements.

With use of cloud computing having grown by nearly 20 percent in the past 12 months—to an estimated $110 billion industry—enterprises, both small and large, need information and guidance as to the risks as well as opportunities in using cloud services.
