Carl Rashid, Jr., a member of Dykema’s Real Estate Practice Group who leads the Firm’s Property Tax Appeals group, has been named to the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit.

The YMCA is a worldwide cause-driven not-for-profit enterprise that promotes youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is one of the longest-running operations in the U.S., having served the community for more than 150 years. With his fellow Board members, Rashid will help plan and advance the chapter’s mission and vision, and lend consultative help to chapter management.

Rashid notes that education—specifically, investigating and underwriting alternative new forms of learning—is one of the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit’s key initiatives. In the past two years, the organization has opened two new Charter Schools—the Detroit Leadership Academy and the Detroit Innovation Academy—that serve school districts in and around Greater Metro Detroit.

Rashid says, “It’s a privilege to be selected to the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit Board, and to have the opportunity to work with community leaders promoting youth development and social responsibility.”
