Cox Smith Matthews Incorporated (“Cox Smith”) today announced that six of its attorneys were named to the 2012 Texas Rising Stars list, which honors the top attorneys in Texas. No more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected to the list.

The firm’s San Antonio-based attorneys receiving recognition were Scott Bankler (Mergers & Acquisitions), Jeffrey Bizon (Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights), Rodrigo Figueroa (Utilities), Derrick Pizarro (Intellectual Property) and Corey Wehmeyer (Business Litigation). Dallas-based Renee Strickland was recognized for her skills in Business Litigation.

“I’m very proud of these six attorneys for being recognized by their peers for the outstanding work they perform on behalf of their clients,” said Jamie Smith, managing director of Cox Smith.

Texas Rising Stars nominees are identified by members of the prestigious Texas Super Lawyers list. Polling, research and selection for the Texas Rising Stars list is performed by Thomson Reuters’ Legal division. The Texas Rising Stars designation is reserved for the top Texas attorneys who are 40 years old or younger or have been in practice fewer than 10 years. The list of 2012 Texas Rising Stars appears in the April 2012 issue of Texas Monthly magazine and in Texas Super Lawyers – Rising Stars Edition, which is distributed to all active Texas attorneys and the ABA-accredited law school libraries.
