Andrew Scott Joins Dykema In Chicago

Brings Extensive Land Use and Zoning Experience; Adds Depth to Firm’s Sophisticated National Real Estate Practice

Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of Andrew P. Scott to its Real Estate practice group as a member in the firm’s Chicago office.

Scott focuses his practice on land use and zoning issues, governmental entitlements and economic development incentives, including tax increment financing, tax sharing and corporate tax credits. He also counsels clients on state and local ethics matters, including lobbyist registration and reporting, campaign finance and pay-to-play bans.

Scott has represented multinational companies, including United Airlines, Ford Motor Company, BP America, Boeing Company and USG Corporation on land use matters and multi-jurisdictional economic incentive packages with respect to corporate headquarters and new manufacturing facilities sitings. Scott also represents local developers and businesses on land use and entitlement matters around the state and the region.

Scott joins Dykema from DLA Piper where he was a partner in the Real Estate practice. Prior to 2002, he practiced law at Altheimer & Gray. Earlier in his career, Scott was assistant counsel to the Hon. Michael J. Madigan, Speaker of the House, Illinois House of Representatives, where he acted as staff attorney for the Electricity Deregulation, Public Utilities, and Environment and Energy Committees. In this role, he reviewed and drafted legislation, analyzed bills, and provided detailed memoranda on legislative matters of special interest to House leadership.

Scott’s legal experience also includes work with the Capital Litigation Division of the Illinois Appellate Defender’s Office, the Illinois Commerce Commission, and a clerkship with the Hon. W. Thomas Rosemond, Jr.

He received a J.D., with honors, from the Chicago-Kent College of Law and a B.A. from Tufts University.
