DETROIT - Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the appointment of Mark K. Sales and Eric T. Carver as Co-Chairs of its Probate, Trust, and Fiduciary Litigation Practice Area.

Carver focuses his practice on business entity planning; taxation; estate planning; family wealth transfers; business entity formations; corporate planning and taxation; limited liability company planning and taxation; tax controversies; mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; real estate acquisitions, charitable giving and charitable trusts; contested estate, trust and probate matters; probate litigation; and decedent estates and probate administration. Prior to joining Dykema, Carver was a tax consultant for Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur Group, and served in multiple administrative and legislative capacities for U.S. Senator Carl Levin.

Sales, who joined Dykema in October, focuses his practice on probate litigation with an emphasis on tax and fiduciary disputes in trust and estates matters. Sales served as chair of K&L Gates' Probate, Trust and Related Fiduciary Duty litigation practice group and repeatedly has been recognized by Texas Monthly as a Super Lawyer in this practice area.

Dykema's Probate, Trust and Fiduciary Litigation Practice Area is formed by a cross-disciplinary team of attorneys from the firm's 10 offices across the country. These attorneys have extensive experience representing a variety of clients including individual and corporate fiduciaries, public and private charities and foundations, executors, administrators, trustees, beneficiaries, guardians, conservators, family partnerships, and other closely held family businesses involved in litigation.

This representation includes a broad range of disputed matters including estate tax and administrative issues, will and trust contests, income, estate, and gift tax disputes, suits for breach of fiduciary claims against executors and trustees, closely held business disputes, and conflicts arising from all types of fiduciary relationships. In addition, the group provides value-added, non-adversarial legal services to reform and modify trusts.

The group provides focused legal assistance and professional consultant work for individuals, families, businesses, attorneys and accountants. Practicing solely in the field of trusts, estates, and tax law, this practice area combines a comprehensive knowledge of estate planning, administration and taxation with the firm's more than 150 trial lawyers when litigation becomes necessary. By using careful case assessment and precisely defined litigation plans, the team can optimize case outcomes.
