ANN ARBOR - Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of Roselyn Parmenter to its Health Care practice, as a member in the firm’s Ann Arbor office. Prior to joining Dykema, Parmenter was a principal at Miller Canfield in Health Law.

A former registered nurse and hospital administrator, Parmenter has 25 years of experience in health care law, working primarily with nonprofit organizations and governmental entities, including hospitals, county community mental health authorities, federally qualified health centers and physician organizations. She represents most of the Michigan County Health Plans that provide coverage for adults in the state with incomes under 150 percent of the federal level. A major focus of her practice includes advising clients about Medicare and Medicaid provider reimbursement and compliance issues, tax exemption, certification matters, special Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) funding, Medicaid managed care and Medicaid audits.

“With Roz’s addition, Dykema now has the most extensive and largest managed care practice in the state,” said Rex E. Schlaybaugh, Jr., Dykema’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Additionally, she brings a unique blend of experience as a health care practitioner, administrator and legal counsel which provides immediate and tangible value to our clients and her colleagues at Dykema.”

Parmenter also has many years of experience with general health care issues including licensing, certification, accreditation, fraud and abuse analysis, compliance programs and HIPAA. She has handled numerous health care mergers, acquisitions, consolidations and joint ventures. Prior to engaging in the practice of law, Parmenter worked as a registered nurse and then as a hospital administrator responsible for the management of numerous outpatient departments at a large health care system.

“Given the constantly changing health care environment, and increasing demand for sophisticated legal counsel on industry issues, Roz’s arrival provides an added dimension to our deep health care bench in Michigan and nationally,” said Phyllis Adams, Dykema’s Health Care practice leader. “We welcome her to the firm.”

Parmenter earned a B.A. with high distinction from the University of Michigan in Philosophy, an A.D. from the Delta College School of Nursing and a J.D from Wayne State University Law School.
