Michael F. Derksen is a senior attorney in Dykema’s Business Litigation Department. In his general commercial litigation practice, Mr. Derksen represents clients in a variety of disputes, including those concerning insurance coverage, financial services, bankruptcy, healthcare, IT outsourcing, breach of contract, non-compete and trade secrets, class actions, labor and employment, civil rights, the Employment Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), false claims, white-collar, toxic tort, and product liability. Mr. Derksen has litigated cases all over the U.S. in state and federal court and also has substantial arbitration and mediation experience.
Mr. Derksen graduated from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was a Law School Centennial Cornerstone Scholar (merit-based scholarship) and played guitar in the theatrical comedy sketch group. He was a Lloyd Hall Scholar at the University of Michigan and co-hosted/produced the student-run television show "Michigan Football."
Mr. Derksen has lectured at continuing legal education courses on various insurance coverage and commercial litigation issues.
