Associate Story - Thi Hoang Ho

When a cross-country move meant that Thi Hoang Ho needed to leave her role at a New York firm, she doubted she would ever find the same level of satisfaction. But returning to her family in California, where she began her career at the U.S. Department of Justice, was a priority.

She interviewed with a number of law firms, but none of them felt right.

But Dykema was immediately different.

“Dykema expressed an interest in me, asking questions about my goals,” Thi said. “I felt that there was personal commitment to me that really set the firm apart.”

Thi’s first impression held true.

At Dykema, Thi has found a supportive culture where partners treat associates as peers and “everyone’s opinion matters.” This extends to the staff of paralegals and assistants who, as respected teammates, do all they can to contribute to attorney and client success.

In this open and collegial environment, Thi gained substantive experience early in her tenure—not typical at a firm of Dykema’s size. She engaged directly with clients and opposing counsel, took the lead on motion writing, appeared in court, and even managed her own cases.

“Partners made a concerted effort to get me out there,” said Thi. “My career has benefited greatly from Dykema’s team mentality, where everyone helps each other to succeed.”
