Dykema Joins Suppliers Partnership for the Environment

Dykema is pleased to announce that it has been named the newest – and only law firm – member of Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP), the auto industry’s premier environmental association.

Founded over a decade ago, with headquarters in Washington, D.C., SP is an innovative collaboration between automobile original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), their suppliers and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). By sharing knowledge and working together, SP members seek to improve environmental performance while providing value throughout the automotive supply chain.

Grant Gilezan, who leads Dykema’s Environmental Law Practice Group, will be the Firm’s designated representative to SP. Gilezan’s practice focuses on a broad array of environmental work that ranges from regulatory, transaction, contracting, lobbying and litigation matters in both public and private sectors.

In announcing Dykema’s membership, Gilezan observes, “Suppliers Partnership for the Environment is the pre-eminent industry association for all things automotive and environmental. With more than eight decades of experience serving the automotive industry and extensive experience in the environmental law arena, our firm is eager to share knowledge and insights with our fellow SP members, as they look to create environmentally sustainable products.”

Gilezan anticipates that Dykema involvement in Suppliers Partnership for the Environment will be substantive and immediate. He has volunteered to serve on two SP committees:

• Chemical Issues Management Work Group, tasked with discussing emerging chemical issues that could potentially impact auto manufacturers and the supply chain; and,

• Program Work Group, which looks to organize an automotive sustainability summit in Michigan later this year
