Aleks Miziolek, Director of Dykema’s Automotive Industry Group, will be a guest presenter at the AIAG 2013 Corporate Responsibility Summit. This two-day industry event—“Integrating Sustainability Into Your Business Plan and Practices”—is aimed at those in the automotive, heavy industry and technology sectors who are involved in matters of environmental sustainability and other corporate responsibility issues, and will take place in Novi, Michigan on April 24-25, 2013.

In an afternoon presentation on day two of the Summit, Miziolek will co-deliver—with Samuel Fogelman, Risk Consulting Partner at KPMG LLP—a presentation themed “Conflict Minerals: Internal Operations to Audit Compliance.” This 90-minute session, intended for both SEC filing and non-filing companies, will provide insight into “gray” areas of the law that do not have clear interpretations. Among the topics to be addressed:

  • An introduction to Form SD (required of filing companies, but dependent on information from non-filing companies)
  • An introduction to the five-step framework of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance, and how to make certain your company process can be successfully audited to this framework
  • How to convert your company’s Conflict Minerals effort from a project to a sustainable process
