Bonnie Mayfield, a member in Dykema’s Litigation and Labor and Employment Practice Groups and a resident in the Bloomfield Hills office, has been invited to serve as moderator of a 70-minute session: “Disaster Averted, Mass Tort Resolved—Settling Mass Tort Disaster Cases.” This session, to be held on Friday, April 26, 2013, is part of the ABA’s three-day CLE conference hosted by the ABA Section of Litigation and will go forward in Chicago.

Mayfield will preside over a session that addresses “the complexities and ethical implications of settling hundreds of cases that involve different types of injuries with vastly differing levels of severity and financial exposure. The panel members will provide meaningful guidance on the actual mechanics involved in negotiating and settling these cases, as well as the ethical limitations, hurdles and pitfalls that lurk even for the seasoned litigator.”

Scoring an impressive series of victories for different clients, including a legal "hat trick" for a trifecta of wins for one client and making legal history for another client by winning the first ever award in a particular type of labor arbitration, Bonnie Mayfield has earned her designation as a seasoned and business savvy trial and appellate lawyer. Wearing many different hats, Ms. Mayfield’s skills in settling matters also have resulted in her being brought in as a settlement strategist, ensuring successful and effective resolution.

The American Bar Association is one of the world’s largest voluntary professional organizations, with nearly 400,000 members and more than 3,500 entities.  To learn more about this CLE event, or to register, click here.
