Dykema, along with several of Western Michigan's leading law firms, has partnered with the Grand Rapids Bar Association (GRBA) to launch a five-year action plan to increase diversity in the region's legal community.

The plan, devised by the Managing Partners Diversity Collaborative—in which James S. Brady, Office Managing Member of Dykema’s Grand Rapids office has been a key contributor—seeks to “achieve diversity and inclusion in the education, retention and promotion of Michigan’s attorneys.” In order to achieve its long-term goals, the plan establishes committees to tackle three critical issues facing the GRBA and member firms: increasing the number of attorneys of colors in Western Michigan law firms, improving the rates of female attorney retention and advancement, and expanding the pipeline of persons of color entering law school and the profession as a whole.

This initiative is one of many activities that exemplify Dykema’s long-standing commitment to diversity. In concert with other law firms in the area, Dykema seeks to bring increased diversity to Western Michigan, helping ensure that the legal industry advances the ideas of openness and inclusion.
