John Dickey, Julia Zhu to Present at “Invest in the U.S.” Seminar

On Friday, July 26, 2013, two Dykema attorneys—John Dickey, Dallas-based member whose practice focuses on securities, corporate finance, antitrust and commercial law; and Julia Zhu, senior counsel resident in the Firm’s Los Angeles office, whose practice focuses on a variety of corporate matters including joint ventures and strategic alliances, cross-border transactions and international arbitration and litigation—will be co-presenters at a half-day seminar, “Invest in the U.S.”

This seminar, an invitation-only event co-sponsored by the U.S.-China Business Council and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, is aimed at top-level executives and senior leaders of Chinese companies looking to invest in the U.S.. Presentations will cover topics ranging from foreign investment approvals, financing options for foreign companies, public relations considerations for foreign investors and the topic that Dickey and Zhu will address: “Legal Considerations for Investing in the United States.”

The two are both members of Dykema’s China Business Team, a cross-disciplinary group of experienced professionals who have unique understandings of the culture, business customs, legal and regulatory structure, and judicial system of the world’s second-largest economy.

Zhu, who is fluent in Mandarin as well as English, has served as Ambassador of Investment Promotion and Trade Representative for Jiangsu Province—which has the greatest GDP per capita of all provinces in China and is the province to have received the most foreign direct investment (FDI) since 2006—helping attract capital and/or technology investments. Dickey has represented a host of companies in cross-border strategic partnering and joint venture efforts between U.S. and Chinese companies.
