Kathrin E. Kudner, a member of Dykema’s Health Care practice who represents health care providers and payors in various corporate and regulatory matters, is extensively quoted in a July 7, 2013 article that appears on CNBC.com, an online provider of real-time financial market news to business audiences worldwide.

In the article—“You’re at Mercy of States, Not Obama, in Health Care”—Kudner and other professionals who advise companies on health care insurance matters, lend their insights into an important component of the Affordable Care Act (ACA): new healthcare marketplaces (also known as exchanges) that are scheduled to begin enrollments this fall.

Kudner observes that because this is an entirely new system, some healthcare exchanges may be up-and-running on the October 1 target date, but many may not.

Kudner notes that while the federal exchanges and the exchanges in some states will be ready, “there are a number of states that have not done much at all." Kudner also says that because offerings will likely differ dramatically state-to-state, prospective purchasers will be faced with a complex and confusing market.
