Elizabeth Khalil Authors Article for Chicago Daily Law Bulletin

January 20, 2016

Elizabeth Khalil, Chicago- and Washington, D.C.-based member in Dykema’s Government Policy Practice Group, authored the article, “Empty pot: Marijuana businesses still can’t bank on opening accounts,” for the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.

In the article, Khalil points out that a combination of federal drug law and banking regulations has continued to hinder financial institutions from opening accounts for marijuana-related businesses. She also highlights that marijuana businesses may face increasingly difficult constraints in operating, paying employees, paying taxes and conducting other everyday tasks that legitimate businesses do as a matter of course.
