Brian Page and Tom Vaughn were quoted in the Grand Rapids Press feature of Dykema’s 2011 Mergers and Acquisitions Survey results. While survey results indicate stagnant, if not declining M&A activity, the article highlights better than average results for certain geographies—including West Michigan. According to Page, “ West Michigan respondents were ‘slightly more optimistic’ about the economy and the M&A market.”

The article goes on to state that the biggest driver of capital in 2012 will be the availability of capital. It says that strategic buyers will continue to dramatically influence the M&A market in 2012. Vaughn’s reaction to the influence strategic buyers will have on the market is quoted, “As more buyers pursue a deal for strategic reasons, rather than as an investment, transaction valuations could increase.”
