Jack Schaedel, Los Angeles-based member in Dykema’s Labor & Employment Practice Group, authored a guest post for Daniel Fisher’s Forbes column entitled, “Uber's Millions Buy Temporary Peace, But Not Protection In The Gig Economy.”

In the article, Schaedel discusses a recent Uber settlement of a class action alleging the misclassification of 385,000 drivers in California and Massachusetts for $84 million. He goes on to highlight further details of the settlement, pointing out the potential strategy behind the chosen dollar amount as well as ways that the decision may not work in the long run.
