March 15, 2013

Steve Liedel, senior counsel in Dykema’s Lansing office, has written an op-ed piece for the Lansing State Journal. The article, “Keeping, attracting residents is crucial,” will appear in the print version of the newspaper on March 17.

In September 2012, Liedel – whose practice focuses on government organization and restructuring, public finance, and tax policy – was appointed by Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero to a 15-person financial health team, an independent group of community and business leaders in Lansing tasked with making recommendations to balance the 2013-14 budget and to make sure that the city’s avoids the development of a financial emergency. Liedel, the only law firm member appointed to the financial health team, served as chair of the team’s Long-Term Solutions Committee.

The financial health team will formally present its findings and recommendations to the mayor and city council the week of March 18.
