Stephen L. Tupper, member and leader of Dykema’s Privacy, Data Security and E-Commerce practice, will be a featured presenter at the 5th Annual Information Technology Law Seminar, in Plymouth, Michigan on Thursday, September 27. This day-long event, presented by the Information Technology Section of the State Bar of Michigan in cooperation with the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE), is aimed at business executives, in-house counsel, IT department heads and all others who use technology in conducting their business.

Tupper will deliver a one-hour presentation, “Practical Approaches to Privacy Contracting,” that will focus on the most common privacy concerns in contracting for (or providing) information technology services.  He will concentrate on state data breach laws, FTC regulation, audit standards, EP privacy issues, and the Payment Card Industry’s PCI DSS.  Most importantly, he will address practical approaches to getting to an agreement on these emerging issues, whether from the customer side or the vendor side.

In other presentations, attendees will learn how to:

  • Legally regulate employees’ workplace use of social media websites.
  • Avoid costly mistakes with IT implementations.
  • Prove or defend allegations of trade secret misappropriation.

The one-day session, to be held at The Inn at St. John’s, is CLE-accredited for 5.25 hours. To learn more about this event, or to register, click here
