Fingerhut Joins Dykema’s Intellectual Property Group

Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of Eric T. Fingerhut to its Intellectual Property Department as a member in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. Fingerhut was previously a partner in the Intellectual Property practice at Howrey LLP.

Fingerhut focuses his practice on a wide variety of brand identity and reputation management issues, including trademark, copyright, right of publicity, advertising, marketing and new media law. His experience includes U.S. and international counseling and risk analysis; product naming; labeling; rights clearance for marks, film and advertising; trademark enforcement, defense and litigation; negotiating and drafting license agreements; and creative dispute resolution. He is actively involved in policing trademarks from cybersquatting and other misuse on the Internet and has written and lectured on legal issues associated with social media networks.

Fingerhut also founded the International Cycling Law Association (ICLA), an organization that educates the global bicycle industry on laws affecting business, provides pro bono referral assistance to nonprofits, and advocates on safety and legal issues.

A frequent speaker and author on branding and other intellectual property issues, Fingerhut is a member of the International Trademark Association, D.C. Bar Intellectual Property Law Section (of which he was a past Chair), and CT Corsearch Client Advisory Board. He was also a founding member of Intellectual Property Constituency (IPC) of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

He received a J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and a B.S. from Boston University.
