Murphy Joins Dykema In Washington, D.C.

Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of Robert B. Murphy, Sr. to its Corporate Finance practice as Of Counsel resident in the firm’s Washington, DC office.

At Dykema, Murphy will counsel clients on a range of corporate and securities law issues including private and public securities offerings (IPOs, repeat and secondary offerings), mergers and acquisitions, exchange tender offers, proxy contests, asset and stock purchases, venture capital financings and other commercial transactions. He also advises public companies on disclosure and corporate governance issues, shareholder relations and United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and stock exchange compliance and listing matters.

Murphy joins Dykema from Pepper Hamilton LLP where he served as a partner in the Corporate and Securities practice and anchored its SEC practice from the Washington office. His clients have included companies in the information technology, life sciences, telecommunications, financial services, manufacturing, mining and retail industries. Murphy began his legal career at the SEC, where he was an attorney-adviser in the Division of Corporation Finance.

A frequent author and lecturer, Murphy is co-chairman of the BIO IT Coalition, a not-for-profit organization for the advancement of information technology as an integral discipline in life science research, diagnostics and therapeutic discoveries.  He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at George Mason School of Law.

Murphy earned an LL.M. in Securities Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center, a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law, an M.B.A from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. from University of Notre Dame.
