Dykema’s Tiplady Elected Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel

ANN ARBOR—Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced that Robert P. Tiplady, a member of the firm’s Taxation and Estates practice, has been elected a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).

Established in 1949, ACTEC is a professional organization of approximately 2,700 lawyers who specialize in trusts and estates throughout the United States. ACTEC’s mission is to improve trusts and estates representation, and to pursue reform of the rules of probate, trusts, tax, and professional responsibility that pertain to this area of practice.

ACTEC Fellows of the College are nominated by other Fellows in their geographic area and are elected by the membership at large. Fellows are selected on the basis of professional reputation and ability in the fields of trusts and estates and on the basis of having made substantial contributions to these fields through lecturing, writing, teaching, and bar activities.

Tiplady practices in the areas of estate planning and probate, including wills, trust agreements, powers of attorney, probate and trust administration, probate litigation, and gift, estate and generation skipping transfer tax planning. He has substantial experience advising fiduciaries and beneficiaries in contested and uncontested probate matters. Tiplady also frequently advises individual and professional fiduciaries on estate and trust administration issues, including construction and interpretation issues.

A frequent lecturer on taxation and estate practice matters, Tiplady is an active member of various bar and estate planning associations, including the Washtenaw Estate Planning Council, Michigan Trust Code Court Rules Subcommittee of the Council of the Probate and Estate Planning Section, the Uniform Principal and Income Act Amendments Committee of the Council of the Probate and Estate Planning Section, the Michigan State Bar Association and many other organizations.
