Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state receive this honor and the selection for this list is made by the research team at Super Lawyers.

The firm’s San Antonio-based attorneys receiving 2014 recognition are Meghan Bishop DeBard (Bankruptcy), Matthew Cole (Litigation), Rodrigo Figueroa (Real Estate), Katy Moore (Oil, Gas & Energy Law),  Derrick Pizarro (Intellectual Property) and Corey Wehmeyer (Energy Litigation). McAllen-based Jesus ”Jesse” Barba, Jr. was also recognized in Real Estate.

“Our 2014 Texas Rising Stars represent many of the firm’s busiest practices and most significant clients. Being recognized by their peers for the outstanding work they perform on behalf of their clients is a well-deserved honor and I look forward to seeing their accomplishments in 2014 and beyond,” said Deborah Williamson, managing director of Cox Smith.
