Cox Smith Adds Six New Attorneys in San Antonio

Cox Smith, one of the leading business law firms in Texas and the largest Texas law firm headquartered in San Antonio, today announced that six attorneys have joined its San Antonio office as associates.

Associate Ryan Cox brings a wealth of courtroom experience to Cox Smith’s Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation practice. Prior to joining Cox Smith, he served as a law clerk for District Judge Orlando L. Garcia, United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, where he drafted orders and opinions in civil cases including complex mineral rights litigation, bankruptcy appeals, civil rights, patent and trademark infringement, contract disputes, foreclosure contestations, employment cases, and class action/multi-district litigation. He also served as a briefing attorney for Justice Gina M. Benavides in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, and as a judicial intern for Justice Nathan L. Hecht, Supreme Court of Texas. Cox earned his J.D. degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He also served as Private First Class (E-3), 321st Military Intelligence Battalion at Camp Mabry, Austin, Texas.

Michelle Gomez joined the firm’s Litigation department after receiving her J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law and her bachelor’s degree in government (with Special Honors) from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining Cox Smith, she was a summer law clerk for Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Alberto, where she researched case law for EEOC and discovery matters in the First, Second, and D.C. Circuits; analyzed documents and classified evidence into supported legal issues.

Cassidy Larsen joined Cox Smith as an associate in its Employment and Employer Rights practice area, where she assists clients with a variety of matters related to labor, employment and employer rights. She counsels employers regarding compliance with various federal and state employment laws, and also represents employers in administrative proceedings and litigation involving claims of discrimination, retaliation and wage and hour issues. A graduate of Texas Tech University School of Law and Texas Tech University, where she earned a bachelor of business administration degree, Larsen participated in the international law program at Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 in Lyon, France. Prior to joining Cox Smith, she clerked for the Honorable Les Hatch in the 237th District Court in Lubbock, where she researched and prepared legal briefs on topics before the court and wrote responses to motions filed with the court.

Luke Lechler joined Cox Smith as an associate in the Corporate Law department where his practice focuses on family-owned and closely-held businesses, corporate and securities, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining the firm, Lechler worked as a senior accounts manager at an ergonomics consulting firm. He is a graduate of the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, New York University (M.S. degree in Ergonomics and Biomechanics) and Texas A&M University.

Patrick McMillin is an associate in Cox Smith’s Energy department, where he is focused on assisting clients with matters related to energy, utilities and natural resources. A graduate of the University of Texas School of Law and the University of Texas at Austin, McMillin was a high school social studies teacher with Teach For America in the Rio Grande Valley prior to attending law school. He also served as a researcher for an Austin based lobbying firm and clerked for The Institute of Justice in Virginia, where he drafted legal memoranda related to constitutional law, administrative law, public records and civil procedure.

Attorney Lindsay Riley joined the firm’s Energy Litigation group where her practice concentrates on assisting clients with litigation matters related to energy, utilities and natural resources. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Law where she was Managing Editor and Judicial Board Member of the Texas Tech Law Review, Volume 44. While at law school, Riley was a Judicial Intern for The Honorable Craig Smith of the 192nd District Court. After graduation, she served as Briefing Attorney for Justice Rebecca Simmons and Justice Patricia Alvarez on the Fourth Court of Appeals. She is a member of San Antonio Bar Association, Federal Bar Association-San Antonio Chapter, San Antonio Young Lawyers Association, William S. Sessions American Inns of Court, and Bexar County Women's Bar Association.
