Cox Smith Matthews Incorporated (“Cox Smith”) today announced that six of its attorneys were named to the 2013 Texas Rising Stars list, which honors the top up-and-coming attorneys in Texas. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state receive this honor and the selection for this list is made by the research team at Super Lawyers.

The firm’s San Antonio-based attorneys receiving 2013 recognition are Rodrigo Figueroa (Real Estate), Marissa Helm (Intellectual Property Litigation), Derrick Pizarro (Intellectual Property) and Corey Wehmeyer (Business Litigation). Dallas-based Renee Strickland was recognized for her skills in Business Litigation, and McAllen-based Jesus "Jesse" Barba, Jr. was recognized in Real Estate.

“It’s exciting for the firm to have attorneys from our offices throughout the state of Texas recognized by their peers for the outstanding work they perform on behalf of their clients,” said Jamie Smith, managing director of Cox Smith.

Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a rigorous multi-phased process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer reviews by practice area. The Rising Stars lists are published nationwide in Super Lawyers magazines and in leading city and regional magazines (including Texas Monthly) across the country.
