June 13, 2011

Cox Smith Matthews Incorporated ("Cox Smith") today announced attorney Jesus "Jesse" Barba Jr. has joined the firm's real estate department in its McAllen office.

"Cox Smith has a long, stellar reputation for representing clients in banking, real estate, and corporate transactions, as well as other practice areas such as litigation, employment, and immigration," said Barba. "My decision to join the firm was greatly influenced by Cox Smith's commitment to client service, especially its incredible efficiency and deep resources. I am honored by the opportunity to work with this group of greatly talented and experienced attorneys."

Barba is an accomplished transactional attorney who has guided the sale and acquisition of numerous projects and multi-million dollar real estate transactions. He counsels clients on the development of commercial and residential real estate tracts; advises lending institutions on foreclosures and loan re-structure, for retail, office, leasing or construction use; and assists clients with real estate management and the formation of residential and commercial property owners associations.

A graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, Barba most recently headed up his own firm in McAllen, where he represented several lending institutions in the Valley and serves on the State Bar Texas Real Estate Forms Manual Committee. He is Board Certified in Commercial Real Estate Law and Residential Real Estate Law, has served on the McAllen Zoning Board of Adjustments since 2008, and on the board of Leadership McAllen since 2008.

"We are enthusiastic about continuing to expand our presence in south Texas," said Jamie Smith, managing director of Cox Smith. "Jesse has extensive relationships in the Valley and we look forward to further developing our presence among the real estate, lending institution and business communities there."
