Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of Walter J. Dunn to its Corporate Finance practice group as a member in the firm’s growing Dallas office, which has now added 14 attorneys in the past 13 months. The firm’s rate of growth in North Texas has been so rapid in recent months that it has had to arrange for additional space in the Comerica Bank Tower, where the office is located.

Dunn joins Dykema from the Jonesboro, Ark., office of Womack Phelps Puryear Mayfield & McNeil, P.A. Prior to that, he practiced at various Am Law 100 and 200 firms, including more than a decade at McGuire Woods in Richmond, Va. His practice focuses on large construction projects, many of which are in the energy sector. Dunn has extensive experience assisting clients with the negotiation and drafting of contracts for engineering, procurement and construction of large projects. Examples include coal-fired power plants and supporting facilities, gas extraction, gathering and processing facilities, ocean side terminals, storage facilities, nuclear power plants, as well as luxury hotels, office buildings and public use space.

His experience includes assisting clients with the preparation and negotiation of power purchase and sale agreements, tolling agreements, master forward trading agreements and related credit support agreements and annexes (ISDA, NAESB, etc.), operation and maintenance contracts, long-term service agreements (LTSAs), interconnection agreements and equipment purchases. He routinely drafts sample contracts for inclusion in RFPs and assists in bid evaluation, as well as negotiation with successful bidders and contract administration during construction.

“We are extremely excited to add Walter to our growing roster in Dallas,” said Chris Kratovil, Dykema’s Dallas Office Managing Member. “His distinctive experience working on large construction projects, both within and outside of the Energy industry, enhances our capabilities and will be a huge benefit to many of our clients.”

Dunn earned a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, as well as an MBA in Business Administration and a B.S. in Business Economics from Arkansas State University. He is a member of the Georgetown Law Alumni Board and the Energy Bar Association.
