ANN ARBOR—Dykema Gossett PLLC, a leading national law firm, today announced that Mark G. Malven, a Member of the firm and leader of the Technology and Sourcing Transactions practice, will be moderating and speaking from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ann Arbor SPARK Central, 330 East Liberty, Lower Level, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48104, on Monday, January 16, 2012. This event is a sequel to SPARK's popular IP—1 session held in October of 2011. In this installment, the speakers will discuss the keys to technology licensing and university technology transfer.

Mr. Malven is known for hiss kill in the negotiation of technology transactions and the representation of technology-based businesses. He has many years' experience acting as the outside general counsel and trusted strategic advisor for organizations in a variety of industries, with a particular focus on information technology, biotechnology, entertainment and manufacturing. He recently served as Chair of the Information Technology Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and is regularly recognized as a Michigan Super Lawyer in the areas of Information Technology and Outsourcing by the publishers of Law & Politics. Mr. Malven also has first-hand experience as an entrepreneur. He served as Vice President of Business Development and General Counsel for a dotcom startup and subsequently founded and managed his own law firm. He has guided emerging technology and Internet companies through the early stages of business plan creation, multiple rounds of venture and other funding, customer acquisition, joint venture and partnering arrangements. Mr. Malven was an engineer at Chrysler Motors before attending law school and is also a licensed patent attorney.

Mr. Malven received his B.S. in Engineering from Purdue University and his J.D. from the University of Michigan. He is resident in Dykema's Bloomfield Hills, Michigan office.
