September 3, 2019

Dykema, a leading national law firm, announced today the addition of Joanne L. Zimolzak to its Insurance Industry Group and Business Litigation Practice as a Member in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. Zimolzak joins Dykema after practicing at LeClairRyan. Prior to LeClairRyan, she served as the Office Managing Partner of the Dentons LLP Washington, D.C., office.

A key focus of Zimolzak’s business litigation practice is representing liability insurers in coverage disputes, including matters involving bad faith allegations and significant potential exposures. Zimolzak also routinely advises insurers on coverage and risk management issues, emerging liability risks, new product development, and regulatory compliance. She currently serves as Chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice.

Zimolzak’s practice also extends to complex commercial and administrative litigation, with a special focus on regulatory compliance, internal investigations, and fraud reporting. She has handled a wide range of complex civil litigation matters before state and federal courts throughout the country, both at the trial and appellate levels.

Additionally, Zimolzak has significant experience handling government contracts-related litigation, including contract claims and disputes and reverse-FOIA matters. She has also handled procurement fraud matters and conducted related internal investigations.

“Joanne will be a great addition to Dykema’s growing insurance coverage practice in D.C. and nationally,” said Lewis K. Loss, Co-Director of Dykema’s Insurance Industry Practice Group. “She is a special attorney with the ability to practice at a very high level across multiple practice areas—insurance coverage, government contracts, internal investigations and commercial litigation more generally. We are very pleased to have her as a colleague.”

Zimolzak received a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. in English, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland.
