Edward C. Wolfe is a member in Dykema’s Litigation Department. His practice concentrates in the areas of discovery and electronic discovery (e-discovery), including global discovery processes; information management; complex class actions and product liability litigation.

In the areas of discovery, e-discovery and information management, Mr. Wolfe is experienced in the development and rollout of methodologies and policies related to the creation, management, distribution and retention of information in all media. This includes selection and management of electronic information vendors, and negotiating vendor contracts to meet demanding performance requirements. Mr. Wolfe has also managed large teams of discovery personnel. He has collaborated with attorneys and business unit representatives throughout the world in all areas of litigation in matters relating to the discovery search and response process.

Mr. Wolfe is also a cited co-inventor on 10 patents involving discovery and e-discovery related technologies. These include the electronic management of privileged and non-privileged documents; electronic management of data with regard to remote access to, and review of documents stored on a central document repository; and electronic response to requests for product related data (including collection, organization, receiving and responding to discovery requests). In addition, Mr. Wolfe is frequently invited to lecture at e-discovery and document management conferences, and regularly works with various industry groups on e-discovery issues.

In the area of general litigation, Mr. Wolfe has worked extensively in the areas of complex class actions—including MDL proceedings—as well as in contract, commercial, dealer and product liability litigation.

Prior to joining Dykema, Mr. Wolfe served in the Office of the General Counsel with General Motors Corporation, where he was responsible for supervising the company's Electronic Discovery and Discovery Processes on a global basis.

Memberships & Involvement

Mr. Wolfe is a member of the steering committee for the Sedona Conference Working Group 1 Electronic Records. He is also a former board member of the Corporate E-discovery Forum (CEDF).
