Jason T. Riddick is a senior attorney in the Los Angeles office of Dykema, handling complex commercial disputes for both plaintiffs and defendants. His experience and success includes litigating cases involving securities matters, contract disputes, intellectual property, unfair competition, civil fraud claims, civil RICO claims, and FINRA arbitrations. He has represented clients in state and federal courts throughout the country.

Mr. Riddick also represents clients in connection with internal investigations, government investigations, and SEC enforcement matters. His clients include financial institutions, employers, entertainment companies, insurers, investors and high net worth individuals.

Experience

On behalf of a pharmaceutical company sued for securities fraud, obtained summary judgment, which was upheld on appeal.

On behalf of a financial institution with $7 billion in assets, obtained the dismissal of securities class action suit and led a team of attorneys that successfully  handled a concurrent SEC inquiry.

Defeated $15 million dollar RICO fraud claim on behalf of international construction company and its CEO.

Second chaired three-week bench trial in defense of corporate executive concerning multi-million dollar embezzlement and breach of fiduciary duty claims.

Second chaired PCAOB administrative trial regarding purported auditor misconduct.

Part of team that represented the world’s largest Spanish language media company, in three-year high profile litigation against Univision Communications Inc.; the case settled favorably three weeks into trial.

Defended lawsuit challenging California’s administration of a multi-billion dollar insolvent life insurer. Also represented California  in Ninth Circuit appellate matters concerning availability and reasonableness of attorneys’ fees under Section 1983 stemming from Supreme Court decision in American Ins. Ass’n v.Garamendi, 539 U.S. 396 (2003).

Successfully defended music manager in thirteen day arbitration.

Representation of various companies including hedge fund, internet gaming company, and public bank in connection with SEC investigations and informal inquiries.

Representation of manufacturers in defense of putative class actions alleging claims under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

Representation of Registered Representatives in employment disputes and FINRA inquiries and arbitrations.
