Leia M. Scott Associate

Leia M. Scott is a litigator in Dykema’s Chicago office. Her practice centers on distressed assets and creditor’s rights litigation in the CMBS and Bankruptcy and Insolvency space. Ms. Scott advises and assists clients on commercial foreclosures, complex loan enforcement matters, asset-based workouts, contractual disputes, and breach of fiduciary duty litigation, and complex commercial litigation. She is a member of the Financial Services Litigation Group, as well as the Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities Special Servicer Group.

Ms. Scott graduated from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law where she received the Scholar in Law Scholarship, was on the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, served as President of the Black Law Students’ Association 2018-19, and, upon graduation, received the 2020 Dean’s Leadership Award in recognition of her extraordinary achievements and service to the student body and law school community.

While in law school, Ms. Scott interned for Magistrate Judge Patricia L. Cohen of the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Missouri. There, Ms. Scott assisted in drafting opinion orders remanding or affirming rulings of the Social Security Administration’s Appeals Council. In her final year of law school, Ms. Scott was chosen as U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Student Honor’s Intern in Division of Enforcement, focusing primarily on the investigations stage. While there, she became intimately familiar with securities, other financial instruments, and violations to Section 5 of the Securities Act.
