For more than fifteen years, Matt Dendinger has been assisting clients in navigating and resolving their most complex legal issues. Through creative thinking, rigorous analysis, attention to detail, and an unwavering focus on each client’s specific needs and goals, Matt achieves superior results.

A substantial part of Matt’s practice has been counseling insurance industry clients on complex coverage issues and representing those clients in coverage and “bad faith” litigation. Matt’s litigation experience extends to both state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout the United States, and he has counseled clients regarding matters pending in more than twenty states and the District of Columbia, as well as internationally.

In recent years, Matt has become adept in the field of information privacy, including U.S. private-sector privacy and data security laws and regulations and the legal requirements for the responsible transfer of sensitive personal data to and from the U.S., the EU, and other jurisdictions. Matt also has a strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of information privacy and data security, including methods of securing and protecting sensitive data and the mechanics of data breach, ransomware, DDoS, and other cyber attacks.

Coextensive with the development of Matt’s expertise in the field of information privacy and data security, Matt’s insurance practice has expanded to encompass the often-complex coverage issues that first and third-party cyber claims can raise under both dedicated technology and cyber liability policies as well as more “traditional” insurance. As part of Matt’s cyber coverage practice, he helps clients to better understand these issues and to craft policy language designed to address them and minimize the unique risks presented by technology and cyber liability claims.

As part of his litigation practice, Matt enjoys helping clients address the significant challenges discovery of electronically stored information (“ESI”) can present. He is an advocate for leveraging evolving technology in a thoughtful and careful way to minimize the costs of e-discovery wherever possible, while ensuring compliance with discovery obligations and the protection of sensitive client information.
