Rachel Skinner Fernandez is an attorney in the Litigation Department in Dykema’s San Antonio office. Her practice focuses on litigation where she represents insurance companies in coverage disputes and high-exposure bad faith cases arising from catastrophic weather events in state and federal court, as well as various alternative resolution proceedings. Clients rely on Rachel to provide guidance on navigating the state and federal court system throughout the pre and post trial process.

Prior to joining the firm, Rachel served as a Judicial Intern, 198th Judicial District, for The Honorable Judge Rex Emerson in 2011. Rachel earned a B.A. from Palm Beach Atlantic University and a J.D. from Baylor University School of Law, where she handled Alumni Relations for the Baylor Law Review and won numerous oral advocacy awards.


  • Successfully obtained a full defense verdict for a residential property insurance carrier sued in Guadalupe County, Texas after a hailstorm.
  • Obtained summary judgment in Harris County, Texas on behalf of a residential property insurance carrier against plaintiff’s claims for violation of good faith and fair dealing, breach of contract and violations of the Texas Insurance Code.
  • Represented a property insurance carrier in coverage disputes and obtained favorable settlements at numerous mediations.
  • Lead preparation of numerous corporate representatives, fact witnesses and expert witnesses for depositions and trials.
