Cox Smith has been known for energy law since the firm’s founding back in 1939. Today, the firm is still known for its energy law know-how – not to mention its many other practice areas, including its award-winning bankruptcy department. Cox Smith is pleased to announce the release of a new book, When Gushers Go Dry: The Essentials of Oil & Gas Bankruptcy, written jointly by Cox Smith attorneys Deborah Williamson and Meghan Bishop. The book, which will be published by the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), is a response to the numerous challenges facing the U.S. oil and gas industry, and the corresponding increase in restructurings and bankruptcy filings in the past decade.

When Gushers Go Dry explores the labyrinthine legal process of oil and gas bankruptcy cases; Bankruptcy Code, federal and state laws, regulations, and the intimate connection of the oil industry to regional and local communities are all involved when oil and gas companies face substantial economic woes.
