Tania Shapiro-Barr, M.D., Minneapolis-based Member in Dykema’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, and Mark Mansour, Washington, D.C.-based Member in the firm’s Health Care Practice Group, co-authored the Intellectual Property Magazine article, “Avoiding a catch-22.”

In the article, Shapiro-Barr and Mansour discussed navigating patent protection for medical devices. They reviewed common pitfalls in obtaining regulatory approval and patent protection and also provided tips on how to avoid them. They also described the de novo process as an alternative to the 510(k) approval process.
