Dykema, a leading national law firm, announced today that as a part of its long-standing commitment to lawyer and support staff wellness, the firm has joined as one of the inaugural members of the American Bar Association (ABA) Well-Being Pledge & Campaign.
The campaign was first announced by the ABA in Fall 2018 and is designed to raise awareness of the profession’s troubling rates of alcohol and other substance-use disorders, as well as mental health issues. Its goal is to provide support for lawyer and staff well-being through education, policies, and culture. The pledge’s seven-point framework reflects the core areas in which legal employers should focus and provides steps to improve well-being and help meet Firm objectives.
As one of Dykema’s first measures as a signatory of the ABA Well-Being Pledge & Campaign, the firm will launch a series of programs and learning resources dedicated to and focused on the importance and enhancement of well-being. These educational programs will not only help attorneys and staff increase their awareness, but also provide practical and actionable tools to sustain their well-being. Dykema will house these and other employee wellness resources in an easy-to-access wellness webpage on the firm’s intranet. In addition, all newly hired attorneys and staff will be presented with short videos addressing well-being as a part of their onboarding process.
Dykema will also form a Wellness Advisory Group dedicated to researching and recommending resources to educate and maintain good physical and mental health.
