The slowdown in our M&A volume, which began during the second quarter, continued during the third quarter. All told, we closed 22 deals during the third quarter and year to date we have closed 95 transactions, which is down roughly 10% from last year.

Average deal size of $11,832,238 during the third quarter was consistent with the second quarter's deal size of $12,101,252, but down from the 2022 third quarter average of $17,134,490.

Like most others in the M&A industry, we continue to press forward through a challenging M&A market.

The third quarter's deals were spread over 11 different industries, which included healthcare, retail, manufacturing, alcoholic beverage, telecom, software, dental service organizations, facility restoration services, financial services, and agricultural.

During the third quarter we conducted our 19th Annual M&A Outlook Survey in which we ask dealmakers to share their experiences this year and their expectations for 2024. Given the current challenges in the M&A industry, the results this year, which will be announced early next month, should be especially interesting.
