Dykema’s Colleen Gessell Named a 2025 Unsung Legal Hero by Minnesota Lawyer 

Dykema is proud to announce that Colleen Gessell has been recognized by Minnesota Lawyer as a 2025 Unsung Legal Hero. The Unsung Legal Heroes award honors the “backbone of Minnesota’s law firms and legal departments.”

According to Minnesota Lawyer, these honorees are the “dedicated professionals [who] ensure that the day-to-day work is handled with precision and care.” Their “vital contributions support their colleagues, strengthen client relationships, and benefit communities across the state.” 

With a career spanning more than 39 years in the legal field, Gessell is an indispensable force at Dykema. She supports five attorneys, including the office managing member, across a demanding portfolio of high-stakes litigation in commercial disputes, product liability, class actions, and personal injury. Her attention to detail is predictive, anticipating the needs of her team and the specific requirements of court filings in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.

This year’s honorees will be celebrated at an annual awards luncheon on Friday, Sept. 12, at The Mosaic in Minneapolis.
