Dykema, a leading national law firm, is proud to announce that Melanie Chico and Molly Thompson were each recognized in Crain's Chicago Business’ 2022 “Notable Women in Law” feature, which was published on September 2, 2022.

According to Crain's, the “Notable Women in Law” feature recognizes women who have a track record of setting legal precedents, winning big cases for their clients, and mentoring the next wave of women in law—all while finding ways to give back to their communities.

Melanie Chico serves as assistant leader of Dykema’s Business Litigation Practice group and co-leader of its Biometric Information Privacy Act team. In her practice, she litigates complicated, high-stakes business disputes, appearing in state and federal courts, arbitrations, and mediations. Chico advises clients on regulatory and statutory compliance, keeping watch for costly pitfalls and obstacles, especially at the state level, where local laws governing privacy, employee data, COVID directives, and other consumer and worker protections differ substantially from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Additionally, she serves on the firm’s Litigation Training Committee, Hiring Committee, and Professional Personnel Committee. Chico earned a J.D. from the University of Chicago and a B.A. from Duke University.

Molly Thompson serves as leader of the Chicago Metro Chapter of Dykema’s Women’s Business Initiative, the firm’s Hiring Member in Chicago, and as a member of Dykema’s Pro Bono Committee. Her practice focuses on defending Title IX and Section 1983 claims, as well as litigating consumer and commercial financial services matters. She defends school districts, higher education institutions, and their professional staff against liability claims ranging from sexual abuse, discrimination, and premises liability. Thompson also defends corporations and individuals in tort and wrongful death litigation. She earned a J.D. from Northwestern University and a B.A., with honors, from Columbia University.
