Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced that Amy J. Durant has joined the firm’s Lansing office as Senior Counsel in its Regulatory and Financial Services Team. Durant comes to Dykema after a decade at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

Durant brings extensive experience working in bank regulatory and consumer finance law. At Dykema, Durant will leverage her experience with the CFPB to ensure clients receive sophisticated, forward-looking guidance that anticipates enforcement and compliance challenges while completing business initiatives.

During her time with the CFPB, she was a key member of the teams responsible for drafting and implementing significant regulations. She led numerous regulatory implementation initiatives to develop compliance resources for industry stakeholders across a broad range of products, including mortgage lending and servicing, consumer lending, small business lending, debt collection, payday lending, prepaid accounts, and automated valuation models. She also collaborated on matters involving auto lending, buy now–pay later products, credit reporting, fair lending, and remittances.

Prior to her government service, Durant led the bank regulatory and consumer finance practice for a business law firm. She advised banks, credit unions, and other financial service companies on a wide range of matters involving state and federal consumer finance laws, state licensing laws, federal banking laws, privacy and information security requirements, and fair lending requirements. Durant collaborated with clients regarding the development of consumer and small business lending products, deposit products and services, and card and payment products, and helped clients successfully resolve operational issues.

Durant received a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. from Michigan State University.
