Dan Stephenson, Mike Cooney Quoted in DBusiness Article on Dykema National Trial Team

Dan Stephenson, Los Angeles-based member and leader of Dykema’s newly announced National Trial Team, and Mike Cooney, Detroit-based member and chair of the Firm’s Litigation Department, are quoted in a March 18, 2014 DBusiness article that focuses on the launch of the National Trial Team. DBusiness is a monthly magazine—with daily online updates—that covers business news in Detroit and across Southeast Michigan.

In the article, Stephenson observes that as fewer cases go to trial, “experience in front of a jury has become a specialized skill set.” He adds, “you just can’t assume the average litigator has trial experience.”

Cooney reinforces that point: “There are many attorneys who litigate cases, but far fewer that actually try them. And much less try them on a national basis.” Cooney notes that the 27 members of the Dykema National Trial Team—slightly more than half of whom are resident in the Firm’s Michigan offices—form a “support system that allows us to set up shop and litigate cases across the country as easily as we can across the street.”
